The Road to Valuing Lives

Silver Lining of Hope Crusade is out to save lives. We know that stopping violent crimes isn’t just about getting weapons off the street but about teaching the value of life to people, particularly our youth. If our youth not only learns to value other people’s lives, but their own as well, we can make a tremendous difference for generations to come. Along with stopping deaths and injuries to victims of violent crimes, we can also stop our youth from throwing away their future by committing these crimes.  According to the CDC “In 2014, 4,300 young people ages 10 to 24 were victims of homicide—an average of 12 each day”. Whatever the reasons our youth today are not valuing their lives or others lives, and it’s only getting worse. According to CNN there have been at least 23 school shootings this year, averaging out to once a week.” The time to do something about this is now.

We can not wait for someone else to do something, we must look ourselves in the mirror and realize that it starts with each and everyone of us. Ask yourself when enough will be enough for you. This is a job for everyone including the youth. We have to take this issue seriously before it’s too late. It is time to stop blaming guns, music, politics, TV, movies, and video games for this violence and finally blame ourselves. I know it’s hard to accept but things only happen because we allow it. If we united and decided enough was enough things would change in a blink of an eye. It can no longer be a select few who try to tackle this problem, it has to be all of us.
